Kids Love Sports: Teach Your Children to Love Sports

So, you think sports and sportsmanship are great as a mean of pastime. And maybe you’re thinking of having an athlete in the family as well. But as you know, it’s always a tough nut to crack to make your kids love sports. And it’s rather a psychological challenge than just physical.

So, what to do? Well, I also had the same questions a few years back when I had my toddler baby in my family. Myself being an athlete, was so willing to let my baby figure out the spirit and enthusiasms of being a sportsman.

I did my research and ended up with a few tips and techniques. Eventually, they found out to be super effective. Now, in this post, I’m going to demonstrate them all.

1. Help the baby to master the basics

If you’ve been in sports, you have seen that it all starts with the basic. Most of the preschoolers aren’t ready to be in sports and that’s what pedestrians say. So better, you let your child starting from the basic skills, like batting to kicking before it moves forward. You can do that in the time of daily play hours.

2. Give a token of appreciation

A word of appreciation always ignites the babies up, no matter whatever they are up to. Guess, the baby has tried to learn how to shoot a soccer ball for past few weeks. No matter whatever the progress is, ask him that which football team he would like to join.

3. Make them free by physical mean

Most of the babies spend a lot of time on the strollers and swings. Hardly, they can go to playgrounds or something similar where they can physically involve themselves in sports. As a parent, if you want him to love sports, go get him an opportunity to participate in sports. A soccer ball or baseball at home will be just a toy to him.

4. Let the baby walk on its own feet

I don’t mean that it’s about learning how to walk or run. I am talking about the sporty version of walking. For a baby who is going through its physical growth right now, the strength of the feet is a quite important fact. In fact, to develop its strength in feet, you can do one thing. Let the baby walk on your bed. Stepping across the unstable surfaces like mattress will increase its balancing power by a lot.

5. Give them a break from the computers

Well, this is something serious here. Children in 2017, are way more likely to spend an hour in FIFA game than spending 20 minutes in a real-life lawn football.Eventually, it will turn him down physically. Let alone the thirst for sports.

6. Take them to matches

You and your youngster, both are the fans of baseball. So, why not take him along with you in a local or international baseball league match? I can bet that such a match will be a beautiful memory together. And also, a kick start to your child’s love for sports.

7. Work on the baby’s eye-hand coordination

Any kind of sports requires one common skill in it- the eye-hand coordination. No matter it’s the baseball or cricket, you can’t a sportsman’s this particular essence. As you want your baby to be an active lover of sports, why not give him a basic training from the very childhood? Try playing a Catch-the-bubble game once in a while. Let him chase and catch the bubbles itself. Sports like these will definitely boost up its growth of eye-hand coordination.

8. Create an obstacle course for the baby

You might be host a playdate with your kid once in a while. While doing this, try something newer from now. Clear up some space in the basement or backyard and let the baby play in an obstacle course. It will help him to jump over it or crown on its elbows and knees and much more.

9. Get a jumbo rope

One of the all-in-one ways of building your kid’s physical stamina is to play with a jump rope. There are plenty of exercises you can arrange with a jump rope for your baby. In fact, after the baby finds it funny, it will be eager on that by itself. Try arranging a count-game where you and your kid will have a competition of how much jump each can take. Or how many jumps both of you can take in a 2 minutes time.

10. Sign him up for a team

Here we go to the last step. After all, these done between you and your kid, now it’s time to let him in a real team. There are plenty of junior leagues where kids between 12 to 17 are brought up together to play and learn professional skills. So, why not you take a chance for your kid?
