Five Ways to Monitor Your Kids’ Health

Your children’s health always comes first as a parent. To keep them at their prime condition, you try to provide them with the most nutritious food and protect them from illness as much as possible. But no matter what you do, kids, as they are, always seem to slip through your fingers. While some things are inevitable, it’s best to always stay on top of their health to make sure that they are growing and developing well.

Thankfully, there are various ways that you can monitor your children’s health.

1. Learn the Signs of Child Development

Remember when you used to document every milestone your babies achieved during their first year? It turns out that keeping track of your children’s developmental milestones even after their infancy stage can help you monitor your children’s health.

As your children grow, they are expected to reach particular milestones such as learning how to speak, walk, or act in a certain way. When there is a significant delay in any of these areas, this could hint a sign of a developmental problem, which should be dealt with accordingly. The earlier you detect this delay, the better you can help your children to unlock their full potential and prevent any further developmental problems in the future.

2. Measure Your Child's Height and Weight

To ensure that your children are growing well for their age, the best way to know is to measure their height and weight regularly. Monitoring their weight can help detect obesity or potential malnutrition. Meanwhile, their height can indicate whether or not there is a deprivation in nutrients that may lead to stunted growth.

Most parents and pediatricians use a growth chart to record children’s measurements and compare them with the growth standards for their age. A useful tool for monitoring growth among children, growth charts also aid both parents and health-care providers to come up with necessary interventions to maintain health and wellness in their children.

3. Visit Your Pediatrician Regularly

Many parents skip their children’s routine checkups, thinking that they are useless as their kids do not have any current health problems. However, your child's doctor can best monitor their health by keeping track of their growth and development more accurately.

Moreover, visits to the doctor are the best opportunities to talk to them about your children’s milestones, behaviors, and learning capabilities. Health-care providers get to know your children on a much deeper level, and they can assess their health more precisely.

Of course, it is highly important to visit your child's doctor if they have an existing health condition. The doctor’s clinic is more equipped with medical facilities that can help treat your children, such as oxygen sensors and health-monitoring devices.

4. Provide Screen-Time Limits

Several studies show that too much screen time significantly affects children’s brains, causing them to get lower scores on language and thinking tests. The tests show that kids who are exposed to certain gadgets for a long period have a prematurely thin brain cortex, the outermost layer of the brain that is responsible for processing information from the senses. You can try out door like RC car to your baby, that will help then to enjoy their our door time more happy.

While there is still ongoing research about the health consequences of screen time among children, experts advise to limit kids’ screen time to an hour a day or to avoid it altogether. It is also important to watch with your kids in order to protect them from consuming potentially harmful material.

5. Consider Using Wearables

Today, adult wearables are turning into a huge market in the field of health care, and it won’t be long until kids’ wearables hop in on the trend. These health trackers aim to improve children’s health outcomes by monitoring their heart rate and motion. However, their benefits can go beyond that.

Today’s kid wearables aim to eliminate unhealthy habits, playfully incentivizing healthy ones such as drinking water, sleeping well, and eating right. These provide parents with effective health tools to monitor their kids’ health habits and keep them in tiptop condition as much as possible.

While you can’t always ensure that your children get perfect health every single day, your efforts in doing so should go a long way in keeping them healthy and happy.
